Excessive Underarm Sweating

jumping_man3Everyone sweats from their underarms, it is why we all use deodorant and from time to time every sweats a bit too much, especially during sports and on hot and humid days.  However, you may find that just using your traditional deodorant is not enough to combat excess sweating in day to day life.  Having large sweat patches around your underarms is really unpleasant, not only does it leave you feeling sticky and unclean, but can be very embarrassing in social situations.  It’s horrible getting sweat patches and having to find ways to hide them – at work when needing to get something down off a shelf, or socially when sitting near friends.  Excessive underarm sweating is when you get sweat patches at times when most people wouldn’t sweat that much, such as when you’re just relaxing or watching a film.

A surprising amount of people suffer, from excessive sweating, which is called, Hyperhidrosis. They try to hide it by changing clothes thr0ughout the day, wearing multiple layers to try and hide sweat patches or even worst – becoming a social recluse.  Excessive sweating is surprising easy to treat so if you do suffer from it there is no need to worry or take any drastic measures just yet!  Excessive underarm sweating can be easily stopped or reduced by using a specialised sweat reducing treatment.  There are 4 main brands of treatment to choose from which are  Odaban, Anhydrol Forte, Driclor and Perspirex.

These all work in a similar way by blocking your underarm pores to stop the excessive sweat, but allowing your body to continue to sweat appropriately.  They are non harmful and can be used even during pregnancy.  The majority of treatments come in the form of a roll on deodorant, which is applied a night before going to sleep.  In the morning it is washed off when having a shower and your usual deodorant is applied.

Over the course of a week or two you should start to notice a reduction in sweat.  These treatments can result in underarm soreness and redness, in which case you may wish to stop.  However, this soreness usually subsides quite quickly during the day.  Excessive use of these treatments can result in dry skin and very painful underarms – it is definitely recommended that you apply the treatment according to the instructions!
